Lonsdale & Lynn Canyon

It's my champagne birthday! My fav number and birth date is now also my age 🙂

We decided a few weeks ago in the spur of the moment to book a night away to celebrate. Our work has demanded a lot of our energy in the last few months and our weekend adventures have been few and far between. Since obtaining Permanent Residency back in February, Aaron is back with EA and I've progressively taken on more marketing and social media work within my role. We work hard and we love our jobs! But now that we've found our feet with work and can legally stay living in Canada, we figure it's time to get out and enjoy this beautiful city!

We kicked off our beautiful whirlwind of a trip with a stop at our fav cafe Giovanne in downtown, before catching the SeaBus across to Lonsdale. From there, we hopped on a bus out to Lynn Canyon. We weren't all that prepared for a huge amount of walking, so took the shorter trail to the suspension bridge. The valley was steep with little waterfalls and streams flowing between towering trees. Despite taking the 1.5km route, the 30° heat made for an exhausting journey.

Side note: We've definitely acclimatised to the local temperatures! By Aussie standards, 30° is barely hot - however in Vancouver, it seems no one thought about installing air conditioning or ceiling fans in their homes and buildings to deal with the summer weather! But hey, it's certainly more comfortable than a Brissy summer! ðŸ˜‰

After a short bus back to Lonsdale, we re-fuelled and wandered through the markets while waiting for our hotel room to be ready. Upon check in we learned that we'd been given a free room upgrade... to the best suite in the hotel! 180° view of the waterfront! Not sure how it happened but not complaining! Once the afternoon heat subsided, we ventured back out for dinner and ice cream, because no summer birthday is complete without ice cream (also still really weird to me that my birthday is now in the opposite season!).

We squished a lot of sightseeing, walking and eating into a 24 hr period. Hands down the best birthday I've had. A big thanks to my Az for making me the luckiest girl in the world.

I have a feeling my 27th year is going to be a good one.
